Books

I'm so sorry I haven't been up to date for such a long time. The holidays and everything were crazy for forgive me for skipping all that. You probably don't even want to know what has been happening lately. I've been preoccupied by school and family life. I've been really independent lately especially though my horrible days and I'm glad to say this new year has been bringing many new lessons for me to learn and many experiences to cherish already. I can't believe January is already over like what? Anyways... I'm currently sitting in a food court mall sipping on some miso soup and feeling a little guilty for my new purchase(s).... Books.

Before I begin, let me first say that I am quite a cheap shopper. Well, I'd like to say smart shopper. I don't like to buy clothes/shoes/items unless I can see the worth out of it etc. My mom and I are shopaholics... but we enjoy our company the most. Whenever you see us together we're raiding sale items. Nothing feels better than saving money. However, when it comes to books... I splurge. I feel that books are worth it. We all have our opinions... one may say "wow, it's just a bunch of paper and ink and artwork, I wouldn't spend more than 5 dollars" but books may mean the world to other people. Like me.

I recently purchased the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth... after I have already read it. I know, call me stupid, actually... don't call me stupid, I don't believe I am. I also bought the first book of the Maze Runner series by James Dashner. Okay. So let me get straight to the point. I pretty much spent 57 dollars on 3 books. Yup, call me crazy. I know a lot of people who have read books, continue to, why they stopped, etc. Buying books is like buying a whole new world. Call me corny or cliche or crazy or immature but it's a whole new experience to get lost in a book, to get lost in words, it's an entire different kind of love and gives me unexplainable moods. It's a type of meditation and a huge stress reliever especially in the midst of change, these feelings are constant. (And why I feel so guilty right now is because I'm a broke student and I couldn't resist the urge of books). I also like buying new books because they don't "belong" to anybody else yet. And I'd like to be the first to touch the pages and skim the lines and grasp the cover. I love old/used books too because the person who previously owned this book had an opinion and whether or not is a positive or negative one, it's an interesting concept. The reason why I also like buying books is because I like leaving notes in there, whereas I would try to borrow from the library, I can't do that... plus most of the time the books I want to read are on hold... and if some event that happens throughout my day that reminds me of a certain part in a novel I can't go back to it right away. Books are good to invest in. You stay cultured, you are introduced to new characters and as cliche as it sounds sometimes we find ourselves in the characters of the book and books can change us. That is my belief. If it costs 10-20 dollars... I believe it is worth it because it stays with you for a lifetime. (Except university books, those are ridiculous). I hope I get over the guilt soon.... I probably will once I get my hands on those books. I also want to pass these books onto my children as well, I'm always ready for new opinions. So grab a book you find intriguing and happy reading :)
